Val di Fassa is one of the most beautiful and iconic Dolomites valleys: Ladin language and culture, 140 km of slopes in the local area and direct access to the Sella Ronda, the famous 26 km circuit around the Sella massif. Canazei is the main ski hub, but the whole valley offers quality accommodation for all budgets.
Canazei: The Ski Heart of Val di Fassa
Canazei (1,465 m) is the highest and most ski-focused village in Val di Fassa. The Col dei Rossi gondola and the Belvedere cable car depart directly from the village and climb towards the Belvedere ski area, with access to the Passo Pordoi and the Sella Ronda.
Canazei prices (high season):

The village centre has a pleasant pedestrian feel in the evening, with Ladin restaurants and bars concentrated around the main square.
Campitello di Fassa: Ski-in Ski-out Option
Campitello (1,448 m), just below Canazei, has the advantage of the Col Rodella cable car linking directly to the Sella pass area and the Sella Ronda. It is smaller and quieter than Canazei with slightly lower prices.
Best feature: the Col Rodella lift provides one of the most direct entries into the Sella Ronda circuit.
Pozza di Fassa: Best Value
Pozza di Fassa (1,325 m) is lower in the valley but well connected by bus to the ski lifts. Prices are 20-30% lower than Canazei, making it the best value base in the valley for budget-conscious skiers who don’t need ski-in convenience.
Moena: The Fairy Town
Moena (1,182 m) is at the valley entrance and is known as the “Fairy Town” for its old-world charm. Lower altitude means less guaranteed snow cover, but its connection to the Tre Valli Ladine ski area (part of Dolomiti Superski) makes it a valid option.

Getting to Val di Fassa
- By car: A22 Brenner motorway, exit Egna-Ora or Ora, then 45 minutes up the valley. 90 minutes from Bolzano, 2 hours from Verona.
- By bus: regular services from Bolzano and Trento (Trentino Transport network)
- By plane: Innsbruck (2 hours), Verona (2 hours), Venice (2.5 hours)
When to Book
Val di Fassa fills up in Christmas week and Carnival. Outside these peaks, good availability exists with competitive pricing. Mid-January is ideal: full snow, uncrowded slopes and hotel prices 15-25% below peak.
